SAN FRANCISCO, March 29, (THEWILL) – Recent developments at the 1004 Estate in Victoria Island, Lagos appear fixed on plunging the residential area into the steamy vortex of protracted crisis. The dramatic twists that have followed the appointment of a new set of mangers of the property give this disturbing impression.Â
One of the highpoints of the persistent conflict of interests in the Estate was its avoidable disagreement with its electricity supplier which had to withdraw its service after several attempts to settle amicably.
 Other issues such as failure of its water-supply infrastructure and ego-driven power-tussle between home-owners and tenants have compromised its once very peaceful atmosphere and are increasingly portraying a bad reputation about its residents. Allegations of graft and counter-accusations have rained in torrents on an interim Committee set-up to midwife the birth of a new executive for the Estate’s Home-Owners and Residents Association, sequel to the ouster of the previous executive.Â
Its botched general elections, rampant electricity theft and the establishment of a parallel Association are some of the other challenges rocking the once serene and lovable Estate.Â
A number of residents interviewed and who chose to speak anonymously confirmed our findings.Â
On the question of electricity, they said one of its well-known residents who spearheaded the termination of the immediate past executive of their Association in 2015, an unemployed South African, was recently confronted for the illegality but evaded arrest!
It is not clear how events in this high-brow but fast depreciating Estate will further unfold. The tendency of the unebbing crises to remain protracted and to discourage serious service-providers from patronizing the Estate is obvious.
