SAN FRANCISCO, June 16, (THEWILL) – A total number of One hundred and sixty two stranded Nigerians in Libya arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Thursday.
Their return was facilitated by the assistance of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Swiss government after they volunteered to return home.
The returnees, which consists of 132 males, 27 females and three children, were flown home aboard a chartered Boeing 737 aircraft operated by Ghadames Air, which arrived the Lagos Airport at about 2: 50 pm.
Sara Hamo, a consultant with IOM, revealed that the body will facilitate their re- integration with their families in collaboration with the respective state emergency management agencies after careful documentation and profiling.
She added that the group will also make available some stipend to enable them resettle saying another batch, numbering about 180, will arrive Nigeria within the next two months.
THEWILL recalls that a set of about 180 Nigerians had returned from Lybia in March 2016.
