January 06, (THEWILL) – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside key stakeholders, has called on party members in Kano State to embrace unity as the party strategizes to reclaim power from the incumbent New Nigeria Peoples Party administration.
Ganduje made the appeal during the 8th and 9th APC Members Kano State House of Assembly Forum Dinner held in honor of several former House leaders, including Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Rt. Hon. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, and others, on Sunday night.
“Unity is the only way out for us; it’s the only option we have to achieve our goals. God has already intervened in our situation. The current government is distorting the state; we are just waiting for the right time. The next election will be as easy as shifting a hen from its eggs,” Ganduje, represented by Kano APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, said.
The APC Chairman also took a swipe at former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, leader of the NNPP, suggesting his political strength is waning.
He stated, “I am surprised when Kwankwaso claims to have the people. If not for internal issues that caused divisions in our party, he wouldn’t have won in Kano. This time around, he will realize that those who helped him are disappointed and regretting their decisions. We are done with Kwankwasiyya.”
In his remarks, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, echoed the call for unity within the Kano APC.
“What remains for us is unity. Elections are not our problem; if they were to be held today, we have no cause for concern.
“The last election was close, but God did not grant us victory. We must pray and forge ahead together. The way Kano is being managed now is unacceptable, and no one is benefiting from the current leadership,” Ata stated.
He further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing Kano in his developmental agenda.
“When the President allocated 250 housing units to states, Kano received 500 units. This demonstrates his commitment to our state,” Ata added.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Forum, Abdul’azeez Garba Gafasa, emphasised the importance of camaraderie among members, celebrating the honorees for their contributions to the party and their appointments at the federal level.
“Our forum remains united. We are our brothers’ keepers and continue to uplift one another. Our leaders are doing their best to foster unity within the party,” Gafasa concluded.
The dinner served as a rallying point for APC stakeholders in Kano as they gear up for the 2027 elections, with a strong emphasis on internal cohesion and strategic planning to reclaim the state from the NNPP.
