April 15, (THEWILL) – Senator Abdulhamid Malam Madori (APC–Jigawa North East) has cautioned governorship hopefuls in the state against nursing ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the seat is not up for grabs.
Speaking during a Citizens and Government Engagement Programme held in Birniwa Local Government Area, Madori said the incumbent Governor, Umar Namadi, has performed creditably and should be allowed to complete a second term.
“There is no vacancy in Government House come 2027. Governor Namadi has performed remarkably well and deserves to be re-elected,” the lawmaker declared.
He urged politicians, both within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition, to drop their ambitions and instead rally support for the governor’s continuity in office.
“Let the governorship hopefuls in our great party and in the opposition shelve their plans. Namadi’s achievements in his first term are too significant to ignore. He deserves another four years,” he said.
Senator Madori maintained that what Jigawa State needs is political stability and continuity to consolidate on the gains recorded by the current administration.
Meanwhile, checks by THEWILL indicate that no fewer than six aspirants across party lines are already positioning themselves for the 2027 governorship race in the state.
