April 20, (THEWILL) — A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Dr Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get a landslide victory in the North in the 2027 presidential election, despite the ongoing negative propaganda against his administration coming mainly from the region.
In a statement distributed to journalists in Kano on Monday, Kwankwaso, therefore, advised the president not to worry, saying that the attacks on his government are not new in Nigeria when general elections are approaching.
“The president should not worry about the negative propaganda being peddled against his administration by a section of the North. Some past presidents had encountered similar sentiments and survived them.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, too, will survive the ongoing attacks on his government. The attacks will fizzle out, and the president will sweep the Northern votes in a landslide victory towards his eventual reelection and inauguration for a second term in 2027”, he said.
Dr Kwankwaso, who is also the Director of Finance of Hadejia Jammaare River Basin Authority (HJRBDA), stated that Tinubu has been able to address the problems facing the North, which, according to him, past leaders from the North could not solve.
“Although late President Buhari did his very best, it was during his tenure that the Northwestern part of the country experienced the most deadly problems of insecurity.
“Why didn’t the Northerners blame Buhari for failing to rescue the region from the agony of kidnapping, banditry, frequent attacks and abduction of innocent people, including school children, which flourished during his administration”, he asked.
According to him, President Tinubu and the Service Chiefs have been doing their best in tackling the lingering insecurity facing the country and urged the citizens to appreciate their efforts.
The APC bigwig also noted that all the good projects started by late President Buhari in the North, such as railways, roads, water supply, agriculture, and the AKK Gas Project, are being sustained, innovated upon and completed by President Tinubu.
“President Tinubu has clearly shown and continues to show that he is not a tribalistic leader. He is executing road and railway projects all over Northern Nigeria, from Kano to Daura to Maradi, Kano to Abuja, Maiduguri to Port Harcourt, Kano to Maiduguri, Kano to Gwarzo and Kano to Katsina”, he said.
On the recent defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau to the APC, Kwankwaso said the development had boosted the party’s strength in Kano State and President Tinubu’s chances to sweep the polls in the state and the entire North.
