December 11, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian Army’s 8 Division has strengthened its operational capacity with the graduation of 60 soldiers from the Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course.
The nine-week training programme is aimed at enhancing combat readiness and instilling a firm warrior ethos.
Addressing the graduating soldiers, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji, Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, expressed pride in the steady progress recorded by the Division Training School.
Ajose commended the school’s improved infrastructure and training standards, noting that the positive changes were already translating into measurable gains in the field.
He urged the troops to put their newly acquired skills to effective use and serve as mentors to their colleagues.
“Share your knowledge, especially in weapons handling and live-firing drills, and let your discipline stand as an example to others”, he charged.
Earlier, the Acting Division Training Officer, Lieutenant Colonel David Ezebuche, explained that the training was designed not only to teach battlefield tactics but also to build mental resilience, discipline, confidence, and strong team spirit among the soldiers.
The ceremony featured a demonstration of combat skills by the graduates before formation commanders and senior officers.
Outstanding performers were also honoured, including Lance Corporal Abubakar Rabiu, who emerged as the best graduating student, Sapper Popoola Ayomide, who ranked second, and Private Edore Oghenefejiro, who placed third.
