November 26, (THEWILL) — The abducted students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, who regained their freedom on Tuesday, have been reunited with their families after undergoing medical evaluation.
At a brief handover ceremony held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, Governor Nasir Idris expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the President’s swift and decisive intervention, which led to the safe release of the schoolgirls.
The governor also commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and all collaborating security agencies for their unwavering commitment throughout the rescue operation.
Speaking on behalf of the parents, Ibrahim Haruna Maga thanked President Tinubu, the Kebbi State Government, security agencies, and traditional and religious leaders for their efforts, prayers, and solidarity during the traumatic episode.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, praised the courage and resilience of the joint security team deployed for the search-and-rescue mission.
He also acknowledged residents who provided credible intelligence that aided the successful recovery of the victims.
The command reaffirmed its determination to sustain the fight against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the state.
It further urged members of the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest police formation or security outfit.
