Abiodun Appoints Nine Permanent Secretaries, New Principals-General, Headteachers-General

December 31, (THEWILL) — Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of nine new Permanent Secretaries, two Principals-General, and four Headteachers-General in a major move to bolster the state’s civil and public service.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, confirmed that the appointments were made in accordance with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution.

He noted that the selections were based on merit, professionalism, inclusiveness, and extensive experience within the Ogun State public service.

The new Permanent Secretaries were drawn from a pool of Directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme, a specialized initiative designed to groom top-tier public service leaders.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries include Mr. Abdul-Azeez Oludare Ajidele (Ministry of Justice), Mrs. Olufunmilayo Yetunde Soyoye-Baker (Cash Transfer Unit), Mrs. Adebimpe Foluso Obienu (Ministry of Justice), Dr. Kafayat Modupe Lawal (Alternate Medicine Board), and Mr. Ahmed Bayo Adetona (Office of the Auditor-General).

Others joining the rank are Mr. Idowu Oladapo Onasanya (Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), Mr. Olalekan Peter Taiwo (State Treasury Office), Mr. Akintomiwa Oluwagbeminiyi Osibodu (Teaching Service Commission), and Engr. Kehinde Olukayode Akintomide (Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment).

In the education sector, the Governor approved appointments to fill vacancies within the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). Mr. Matthew Adeyinka Osilesi and Mr. Yakubu Olorunyomi Lamidi were appointed as Principals-General for the Remo and Ijebu Divisions, respectively.

The new Headteachers-General are Mr. Benjamin Olusegun Alonge (Ijebu Division), Mrs. Aminat Folake Busari (Remo Division), Mr. Olusegun Nathaniel Akapo (Yewa Division), and Mrs. Folake Omolara Onabanjo (Egba Division).

Mr. Onasanya emphasised that the education sector appointees underwent a rigorous screening process, including oral interviews and inspections of their previously managed schools.

Evaluations focused on academic performance in external examinations, administrative quality, staff relations, and facility maintenance.

The Head of Service congratulated the appointees, urging them to demonstrate dedication and excellence in alignment with the administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda.

A swearing-in ceremony for the new officials will be conducted by Governor Abiodun at a later date.
