February 10, (THEWILL) — Access Bank Plc has paid tribute to its late former Group Managing Director, Dr Herbert Wigwe, as well as his wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizi, describing their memories as enduring and deeply woven into the fabric of the institution.
In a reflective statement, the bank noted that although time has passed since their tragic loss, the impact of Wigwe’s life and leadership remains powerfully present. It said his values, vision and commitment to excellence continue to guide the organisation’s culture and aspirations.
According to Access, Wigwe was more than a corporate leader; he was a builder of people and institutions, whose belief in possibility helped transform the bank into a leading financial services group with a strong African footprint. His leadership style, anchored on integrity, innovation and service, was said to have set standards that still define the organisation today.
The bank also acknowledged the loss of Doreen and Chizi, noting that their absence is equally felt and that their memories are cherished by the Access community and all who knew them.
Access reaffirmed its resolve to preserve and advance the ideals championed by Wigwe, stating that his legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the institution he helped build and the future he envisioned for Africa.
