SAN FRANCISCO, August 23, (THEWILL) – Five women who were involved in a road accident while returning to Lagos after attending the Celebration of Nigerian Women for Peace and Empowerment programme which held in Abuja recently, have expressed their appreciation to the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, for her motherly care and concern for them during their stay in the hospital.
The women expressed their gratitude on Friday, when the First Lady visited the women in Primus International Hospital, Karu where they are receiving medical treatment.
The women also expressed their appreciation to the President of the National Council of Women Societies, Chief Mrs. Nkechi Mba, and the National Coordinator, Women for Change and Development Initiative, Princess Rabi Ibrahim, who accompanied the First Lady on the visit, for their frequent visits and also for the visits by women of their organisations.
Speaking to the women while sympathising with them, the First Lady, according to a statement issued by the Director (Information), Office of the First Lady, Mrs. A.O. Adesugba, disclosed that as soon as she learnt of the accident, she instructed the women to be transferred to Primus International Hospital, Karu for good medical attention. Dame Patience noted that Primus International Hospital was the medical facility used by her family members, including her late mother, Mrs. Charity Oba.
The First Lady, according to the statement, thanked the medical personnel of the hospital for the quality of healthcare they were providing to the women and urged them not to relent in their efforts. She further enjoined the hospital’s management team to ensure that the women did not lack anything that would make them comfortable, thereby facilitating their speedy recovery.
The First Lady also used the occasion to urge all Nigerians to work in unity and peace.
Speaking earlier, the Hospital’s medical personnel, Dr. Nilesh Vishwakarma, said that all the women were responding well to treatment and were expected to make a full recovery. He further said that the women will  soon be discharged from the hospital.
