BEVERLY HILLS, November 17, (THEWILL) – Charlie Sheen has announced that he is HIV positive.
The popular US actor made the announcement on Tuesday morning during an interview on NBC’s “Today” Show.
THEWILL recalls that the network had on Monday announced that the actor would be making “a revealing personal announcement on the show today.
Sheen was famous for his roles in “Wall Street” and series “Two and a Half Men”.
The troubled actor, who was fired from the “Two and a Half men” set in 2011 following a meltdown from drug use, told host of “Today” Show, NBC’s Matt Lauer during a live interview that he paid people millions to keep the diagnosis under wraps, but was coming out to end the “shakedowns” and “barrage of attacks.”
“I am in fact H.I.V. positive,” he said.
Sheen, 50, said he had been making payments “enough to bring it into the million” to keep people quiet since he was diagnosed about four years ago, but not anymore.
“Not after today, I’m not, ” he told Lauer. “I think that I release myself from this prison today,” he added.
“Hopefully, with what we are doing today, others may come forward and say, thanks, Charlie, for kicking the door open.”
