April 26, (THEWILL) – The Federal High Court, Abuja, has dismissed the suit filed by Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), seeking a judicial review of her declaration as Governor-elect of Adamawa State by the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari.
Aisha Dahiru was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the March 18 election in Adamawa State.
Binani had urged the court to review the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to reverse her earlier announcement as winner of the gubernatorial election.
Earlier, the court had asked Binani to address it in its jurisdiction to entertain the suit.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Wednesday, Binani’s lawyer informed the court about the notice of discontinuance filed by the plaintiff and prayed the court strike out the suit.
The presiding judge of the court, Justice Inyang Ekwo, subsequently dismissed the suit.
