
June 04, (THEWILL) – At least ten persons have been confirmed killed and several others injured following bandits attack on Sakiddar Magaji and Janbako communities in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Janbako community sources confirmed the incident to newsmem on Sunday.
However, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has condemned the attacks.
While expressing condolences to the families of the victims, the Governor said, “The unfortunate incident came at a time when his government is working hard toward strategising on how to bring an end to the protracted security problem in the state.
“A directive has been issued to the Heads of security Agencies in the state to as a matter of urgency deploy more security personnel to the affected communities to forestall further destruction of lives and properties in the area.”
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, have reportedly neutralised at least five bandits who attacked the communities.
A top military source in the state, who confirmed the development, said troops on patrol at Forward Operating Base Bakura received credible information on attack on Rogoji village in Bakura Local Government Area and Sakiddar Magaji village in Janbako district.
“On arrival at the village, bandits fled on sighting troops advance, consequently, troops went on pursuit after the bandits with a heavy volume of fire and in the process, five bandits were neutralised”, the source said, adding that the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, unconfirmed number rustled Cattle, goats and donkeys.
