Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan

BEVERLY HILLS, September 7, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Aisha Alhassan has been queried by the office of the President and summoned to the Presidential Villa Abuja by the Chief of Staff to President, Abba Kyari, following her open endorsement of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,  for president in 2019 and her rejection of President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid should he decide to run in the next general election.

THEWILL gathered that she was told to return to the villa Thursday night.

The Minister was at the presidential villa earlier on Thursday but was not able to see the President, his deputy or Kyari.

She had told state house correspondents that accosted her that she had no further comment on her position. “I have no further comment. I have said all in BBC Hausa. Get someone who speaks Hausa very well to translate it for you.”

The female minister has faced firestorms since a video surfaced of her endorsing Atiku for president last weekend which she followed up with interviews with the international press on Wednesday, where she reinstated her preference for Atiku over Buhari in the next presidential poll irrespective of whether the president decides to seek reelection.

There have been calls for her to resign or be sacked by fellow members of her party, the All Progressives Party (APC), with a senator representing one of the districts in Kaduna State and a strong supporter of the President, Senator Shehu Sani asking her to step down immediately for disloyalty.

This is a developing story…
