September 7, (THEWILL) – Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has returned to Nigeria from Germany, after about three months of medical leave.
Although THEWILL cannot independently confirm the time he arrived the country, but reports say the Governor arrived at his lbadan, Oyo state residence on Thursday.
Akeredolu had notified the Ondo State House of Assembly that he was embarking on medical leave from June 7th, 2023, to July 6th, 2023, saying he had transmitted power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
But on July 15, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Akeredolu’s deputy, took over the running of the state, noting at the time, that “Akeredolu will resume duty after being certified fit by doctors.”
The governor’s prolonged stay in Germany has raised concerns over the state of his health. He was reportedly diagnosed with cancer of the blood (leukaemia) in January 2023.
