December 16, (THEWILL) – The police have arrested the runaway housemaid suspected to have strangled Madam Maria Oredola Igbinedion, mother of former Edo Governor, Lucky Igbinedion.
Madam Maria died on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the age of 85.
THEWILL had reported that the octogenarian was strangled at her Ugbor, GRA, Benin-City residence by her maid, now identified as Dominion Okoro.
The suspect had reportedly ransacked her house and fled with unspecified amounts of money and jewellery.
THEWILL learnt that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday, December 14, in Calabar, Cross River State, by a combined tactical team of the Nigerian Police.
She is now being detained at the Edo state police command headquarters in Benin.
When contacted on phone for confirmation, spokesperson of the Edo Police Command, SP Kontongs Bello, said he has “not been briefed by the OC.”
