September 08, (THEWILL) – American actor, Danny Masterson, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of raping two women, two decades ago.
The actor, who was famous for his role in a TV series, ‘That ‘70s Show’, which aired in the early 2000s, was found guilty when three women told the court that he had sexually assaulted them at his Hollywood home between 2001 and 2003, a time when he was very famous on television.
He was first accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, which kicked off an investigation.
In June 2020, he was charged with raping three women including his former girlfriend at his Hollywood Hills Homes.
During the trial, the jury learned through testimonies that he had given them drugs before the assaults took place.
At the time of the attacks, Masterson and the three women accusing him of rape were all Scientologists.
The women said that it took them years to come forward because officials of the church of Scientology discouraged them from reporting the rape to the police, threatening one of them that she would lose her membership if she doesn’t sign a non-disclosure agreement.
