May 21, (THEWILL) – Mixed reactions have trailed the emergence of Nollywood actress, Bimbo Ademoye, as winner of the ‘Best Actress in a Comedy/TV Series” category, of the just-concluded Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award.
Ademoye was pitched against Mercy Johnson, Funke Akindele and others, but she clinched the award in the category.
Her role in ‘Selina’ won her the award, while Akindele and Johnson were nominated for their roles in ‘Battle on Buka Street’. Johnson also got a nomination in the same category for her role in ‘Passport’.
However, many have expressed their excitement about the outcome of the nominations in the category.
Ademoye was praised and said to have deserved the award because of her impeccable acting talent and the fact that she could easily switch to a comic character.
Others are of the opinion that Johnson, who is an equally talented actress, should have won the award because the last time she won was in 2013.
It should be noted that the award was strictly by a voting process which was supervised by judges appointed by the organisers of the award.
