January 26, (THEWILL) – The Akwa Ibom state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area (LGA), has debunked reports that a former Presidential aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Sen Ita Enang, has been expelled from the party for anti-party activities.
Chairman of the party in the Local Government Area (LGA), Umoh Ekop, at a news conference in Uyo on Thursday, described the purported expulsion as the handiwork of mischief makers, who are aliens to APC.
According to Ekop, there has never been a time that Senator Enang committed any offence that should warrant an expulsion from the party.
He urged those behind the publication to tender an unreserved apology to Enang within 72 hours.
“Ordinarily, we will have allowed the said publication, knowing that it is meaningless and does not have the weight capacity of distracting the party nor the Distinguish Sen. Ita Enang, who is the backbone of the part in the LGA and state levels.
“For the sake of the public, who may be misled to believe this lies from the pit of hell, we want to put the record straight, that Enang is still a member of APC, Eastern Ward 2, Ibiono Ibom LGA of Akwa Ibom.
“We have not receive any news or petition from the Ward Chairman of Eastern Ward 2 against him at any time.
“Enang is the only light and voice of the party at the local level as well as the known voice in Akwa Ibom that has always been speaking for the party”, he said, adding that Enang has been a very dedicated, committed, and sincere member of APC.
The Media, citing a letter of expulsion addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party in Eastern Ward 2, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, had reported that Enang’s sack was ratified by the state working committee of the party.
Signed by Hon. (Obong) Stephen Leo Ntukekpo, Chairman of the party in the State, the purported letter had said the Enang’s expulsion followed a petition against him over anti party activities and disobedience to party directives.
“The State Working Committee (SWC) of the party has received a copy of the above letter addressed to Senator Ita Solomon Enang in respect of his anti-party activities and disobedience to the lawful directives of the party.
“The anti-party activities among others include his indulgence with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State and his willful but unlawful disobedience of the directives of our great party, the APC.
“After a free and fair gubernatorial primary election conducted by the party which he lost without showing good spirit of sportsmanship, Senator Ita Solomon Enang had engaged in an endless litigation against the candidate who won and the party. In the process, fully doing the biding of the PDP to put a clog in the wheel of our progress as a party. The clandestine meetings he holds with opposition party, the PDP and after such meetings, drumming support for them, are not without notice by his vigilant ward and chapter officers of our great party.
“Consequently, I write on behalf of the State Working Committee (SWC) to ratify the decision of the disciplinary committee of the All Progressives Congress; that, Senator Ita Solomon Enang, be and is hereby expelled from the All Progressives Congress”, the letter, dated January 24, read.
