The call was made on Tuesday by the APC Chairman of Albasu Local Government Area, Iliya Hungu, on behalf of 16 local government chairmen, secretaries, and ward executives of the party during a press briefing in Albasu town.
Hungu described Sumaila as a seasoned politician with a track record of inclusive leadership, noting that his return to the APC would significantly strengthen the party’s unity and grassroots appeal in the region.
“There is no doubt that Sen. Sumaila will add immense value to our great party if he answers our call and returns to the APC. His presence will go a long way in uniting members of the party across Kano South.
“We are aware of his capacity and value in Kano politics. Even though he is currently not a card-carrying member of the APC, he continues to extend a hand of friendship to people across party lines. This is the kind of leadership we need,” Hungu said.
He further appealed to key party figures, including former and serving APC lawmakers from Kano South, the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, to support their efforts in persuading Sumaila to return.
“We are confident that if he rejoins the APC, Senator Sumaila will play a critical role in advancing the party’s interests in Kano State. We truly miss his political presence and call on him to return and join hands with us in rebuilding the party,” he added.
Hungu described the lawmaker as a committed politician who has consistently demonstrated dedication to the welfare of his constituents, saying his return would re-energize the party’s base in the district.
“Sen. Sumaila has no match in Kano South in terms of political strength and grassroots connection. We will be elated to welcome him back into the fold,” he concluded.
THEWILL reports that Sen. Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila is currently representing Kano South in the National Assembly on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
