March 19, (THEWILL) – The country home of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof George Obiozor, at Awo-Omanma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, has been razed down by suspected arsonists.
THEWILL gathered that the suspects used Improvised Explosives Devices (IED) and petrol bombs to raze the building.
Eyewitnesses from the Awo-Omamma community claim the arsonists drove into the compound about 6:15am, Saturday, shot indiscriminately for over 15 minutes, before setting the building ablaze.
“The country home of Prof George Obiozor was burnt. The CCTV cameras captured the attack. Thank God Prof was not at home when they came”, a source said.
Obiozor is yet to respond to an inquiry concerning the attack, but one of the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who prefers anonymity, said that he had called Obiozor to commiserate with him on the incident
It was learnt that Obiozor was not at home when his residence was attacked.
Confirming the incident, Micheal Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, said “officially there was no report of lives lost.”
