February 20, (THEWILL) – The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday night, in Abuja, met with some PDP leaders from Rivers State.
The director of public communication, Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organisation, Dino Melaye, said the meeting was a compensation for the Rivers State presidential rally, earlier cancelled by the party.
Recall that the former Vice President had cancelled his presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the meeting, Atiku said he took the decision to avoid bloodshed, saying “my ambition is not worth the blood of anyone.”
He noted that Rivers State and its people will remain dear to his heart, long after the elections.
Giving assurances that the South-South will be fully carried along in his government, the PDP presidential candidate promised full completion of the East-West road, and revamp of the federal government amnesty program if elected president.
In his response, Senator Lee Meaba assured the PDP of victory in Rivers State.
He, however, listed some other federal projects that Atiku should prioritise in the state when he becomes president.
Others at the meeting included the former National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, Senator Ben Bruce and former governor of Rivers State, Celestine Omehia, amongst other prominent party members.
