SAN FRANCISCO, February 14, (THEWILL) – Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has visited former military President, Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) and Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, on Tuesday in Minna.
Atiku, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), arrived the Minna airport in his private aircraft, T7AAA, at 12:40 p.m.accompanied on the trip to Minna by Capt. Yahaya Gombe, Amb. Yahaya Kwande, Alhaji Kwaironga Jada and Alhaji Jamilu Jibrin.
He was received by Governor Bello who joined Atiku to the ex- military leader’s residence where Atiku held a two-hour closed door meeting with IBB at his Hilltop Residence in Minna.
The meeting broke up after one hour for prayers, after which it continued before finally ending with a lunch.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Atiku said he was in Minna to greet the former President on his return from medical vacation abroad.
“I came to visit Gen. Babangida and to wish him well since he returned from medical vacation abroad,” the former vice president said.
Also, Paul Ibe, Atiku’s spokesman, said his principal paid a courtesy call on Babangida to check on his health and see how his recovery had been saying Nigerians should not read any further meanings to the courtesy call.
“Don’t forget, he visited the families of Abdulkadir Kure (a former governor of Niger State who died on January 8 at 60) when he died a few weeks back,” Mr. Ibe said.
“But IBB was not around then so he had to return to Minna now that the former leader is back from medical trip.”
THEWILL recalls that Babangida returned to Nigeria penultimate Sunday after seven weeks on medical vacation in Switzerland.
