August 13, (THEWILL) — Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has warned that his administration will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone who attempts to disrupt Saturday’s by-election into the Remo Federal Constituency.
Speaking on Tuesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, Abiodun stressed that the poll is not a war, but a democratic process to elect a replacement for the late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who represented the constituency in the House of Representatives.
“I have heard that some people are issuing threats; this is not a threat we will take lightly. Anyone who causes trouble on Saturday will be dealt with,” the governor said.
He assured residents of their safety, noting that, as the Chief Security Officer of Ogun State, he would ensure adequate protection before, during, and after the election.
“Let us all come out on Saturday; don’t be afraid. Any threat against you will not succeed. Our party is in charge of the state and the country. Others are just making empty noise,” Abiodun said.
The governor emphasised that the election is about continuity of quality representation and not thuggery.
He expressed confidence in the APC candidate, Hon. Adesola Elegbeji, describing her as highly intellectual, cool-headed, and knowledgeable.
“Elegbeji will represent you well in the House of Representatives. She will build on the legacy of Hon. Onanuga, fondly called ‘Ijaya’,” he added.
Abiodun also described Ogijo as a strategic border community, assuring that his administration will continue to give it the attention it deserves.
