August 21, (THEWILL) — The Bauchi State Government, on Thursday, unveiled the upcoming Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit scheduled to be held on the 8th & 9th of October 2025.
The unveiling, held in Lagos, was preceded by a mega roadshow and preliminary courtesy visits to Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Sterling Bank, among others. During the roadshow, the State’s economic team displayed a wide array of Bauchi’s investment opportunities in areas such as agriculture, tourism, and natural resources to a Lagos audience
In his address during the unveiling at Radisson Blu Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed, stated that one of the reasons for the occasion is to review the key components of the State’s economy; to determine the private sector’s potential contribution to its expansion; and thereafter, assess the real opportunities that would ensure its integration into a much broader national and global economy.
According to Mohammed, the occasion will enable the government to facilitate engagements between public and private project initiators alike, foreign, as well as local investors, while creating an investment market in Bauchi.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Bauchi State, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, said Bauchi State has become part of globalisation.
On achievements of the government so far, he said his government has, in the last six years of our administration, implemented a programme of action that has improved the stock of critical infrastructure needed to leapfrog the economy of the State to a path of growth.
“We have executed projects and programmes that have impacted the lives of our citizens. We have opened up the State to make the hugely productive but hitherto inaccessible agrarian and largely endowed rural areas, connected to wider markets while at the same time providing access to the communities to the basic social services required”, he said.
Speaking further, he added that “The Summit with the theme: ‘Rebuilding A Resilient Economy; Optimising Investment & Partnerships’ aims to bring together key stakeholders from across the domestic and foreign investment landscape, including government officials, industry leaders and entrepreneurs and prospective investors.”
Emphasising on what the Summit seeks to achieve, the governor said It will attract and onboard new local and international investments; showcase investment-ready opportunities through plenary sessions and exhibitions; promote the growth of SMEs through their exposure and facilitation to markets and business partnerships; and foster strategic collaborations through the execution of Memoranda of Understanding and creation of Joint Venture platforms.
He assured that the Government of the State will continue to give the support and guarantee needed to secure investments coming into Bauchi.
In his remarks, Carlos Roja-Arbulu, the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, commended the Bauchi State Government for the Summit and the opportunity given to him to be part of the event.
Advising the State to endeavour to attend different trade missions taking place across the world, the envoy pointed out that Nigeria is a good place with lots of opportunities.
“We believe that Canada is a partner of choice. This is because so much is happening in the country. For instance, already, we have 117,000 Nigerians as part of the Diaspora”, the Deputy Commissioner said.
In his goodwill message, ex-Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, commended Bauchi State for the economic summit initiative, stating that the state is blessed in many areas.
The former CP advised on the need for the state to partner with neighbouring states in order to boost its security architecture.
“To be an international hub, there will need to be a partnership with neighbouring states. I pray this outing will be worthy of the state because all over the world, people are talking about Nigeria”, Owoseni said.
The event was well-attended by Captains of Industry, Diplomatic Missions, investors, government functionaries, businessmen and women, members of the Bauchi State Executive Council and other officials of the Bauchi State Government.
