January 17, (THEWILL) – The Executive Chairman of the Bayelsa State Post Primary Schools Board (PPSB), High Chief Millionaire Asangba, has enjoined Ijaw youths to tame exuberance and be proactive in their education.
He stated this during a courtesy visit of the Employment Committee of the Ijaw Youths Council, Central Zone, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Board Headquarters, Yenagoa.
Chief Asangba acknowledged the efforts of the council in agitating for social and educational development in Izon land and charged the IYC leadership to take enlightenment campaigns to secondary schools on the need to abhor drugs, and other vices capable of truncating their educational careers.
“The IYC needs to do more sensitisation campaigns amongst youths in schools to take their studies seriously. The ongoing employment of teachers is geared towards engaging youths in the civil service and giving them jobs to cater for their families. The struggle is now an intellectual movement and only those who take education seriously can sustain the tempo,” Chief Asangba reiterated.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Central Zone IYC Employment Committee, Deacon Tari Agai, thanked the Board Chairman for the transparent process of the ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise as the IYC is monitoring the process and so far gives kudos to the board for a job well done.
Deacon Agai commended the Prosperity Government of Governor Douye Diri for the teachers’ employment initiative and assured that the IYC is working in synergy with relevant bodies to ensure a seamless process.
“We call on the PPSB to continue its good work. Governor Diri is doing well and deserves commendation. As IYC employment committee, we commend the prosperity government and pray it succeeds in all ramifications,” he said.
The Central Zone IYC Employment Committee delegation is composed of Tari Agai, Romans John, Tonbra Felagha, Ayatari Ungbuku, and Osuluku Gesikeme.
