SAN FRANCISCO, October 17, (THEWILL) – Some members of the House of Representatives on Sunday added their voices to the reactions trailing the interview granted the BBC by the Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, with a call on President Muhammadu Buhari to take the advice handed by his wife in bettering the administration.
The President’s wife hadnoted that those who laboured for the victory of her husband are being edged out while “People who do not have voters card are those who are given appointments and enjoying the government”. She then warned that she might not support her husband’s reelection bid in 2019 if the present situation persist and he fails to carry out a cabinet shake up
But responding to the concerns raised by his wife, Buhari said, while addressing a press conference in Germany, “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.
In their reaction, the Reps members threw their weight behind wife of the President for her bravery in speaking out on the state of the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration.
Chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Budget, Timothy Golu stated that Mrs. Buhari was closer to her husband than any other person and as such, understood him better.
He said: “She’s drawing her husband’s attention to issues that sycophants around him would not tell him. But she has come out with the truth and is saying it because she loves the husband.” “She is closer to the man (Buhari) more than any other person and since she has voiced this out, the husband should take it and review some of his actions and decisions.
“It will not be good for the President to ignore the complaints from the wife. She has been with him and is disturbed by certain things happening around the husband, so it’s natural for her to talk.”
On his part, the member representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha federal constituency, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma said the first lady’s interview had vindicated most of them who had continuously maintained that the President had been hijacked by a cabal.
He charged Nigerian women to rally round the first lady and support her “in her campaign to save Nigeria from the hands of a few selfish individuals.”
Agbonayinma also noted that the wife of the President must have endured her worry for long and had decided to voice out her frustration.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melayem, at the weekend, stated that it would be too late if the President chooses to delay the reshuffle of his government by three months.
In a Twitter message, Melaye wrote; “The time for my beloved president Mohammodu Buhari to rejig his cabinet is Now. Doing it in the next three months will be too late.
“If you bring Ronaldo to play for Eyinmba against Barcelona. It will be disastrous 4 Eyinmba. So My president rejig when it is ripe to do so.”
