
December 04, (THEWILL) – The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four members at Monday’s plenary session even as it confirmed the list of Local Government Caretaker Committee nominees in 21 Councils.
The four members were suspended for three months for constituting a clog in the wheel of the smooth running of the legislative business of the House.
The suspended members are Honorable Solomon Gyila, member representing Gwer West State Constituency; Honorable Douglass Akya, member representing Makurdi South; Rt. Honourable Dyako Ashwa, Member representing Konshisha State Constituency; and Honorable Anthony Agom of Okpokwu State Constituency.
The motion for their suspension was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Honorable Saater Tiseer, and seconded by Honorable Peter Ipusu of Katsina-Alaa West State Constituency.
Equally, the House has confirmed Governor Hyacinth Alia’s nominees for the local government’s caretaker committees.
In the voice question put by the Speaker, Honorable Aondona Dajoh, the house confirmed twenty-one nominees while two failed.
Those nominated for Agatu and Oju Local Governments were dropped by the Assembly for reasons yet to be ascertained at the time of this report.
The House adjourned till Tuesday, December 5, 2023, for further legislative session.
