October 31, (THEWILL) – The Acting General Manager of Benue Links Transport Company, Mr. Alexander Fanafa, has said that he received a debt burden of N261 million from the past administration on assumption of duty.
Fielding questions from members of the Correspondents Chapel in Makurdi on Tuesday, Fanafa also acknowledged the receipt of a cash amount of N10 million from his predecessor.
According to him, on assumption of duty, of the 32 vehicles inherited, less than 18 of them were functional, while the proliferation of vehicles was the order of the day.
Fanafa said that following the development, the management of the company has set up a commitment to ascertain the number of vehicles and their status.
Benue Links company, according to the Acting General Manager, has started concreting the premises so as to create a conducive environment for passengers as way as divert water to River Benue, thereby, averting flooding.
On staff welfare, Fanafa said all demands have been given priority attention, as Information Communication Technology innovations have been created to put staff on current trend.
He stated that some of its routes earlier closed down on grounds of insecurity have been reopened to give customers from Benue the opportunity to travel with minimum transport cost.
The Acting General Manager, therefore, called on members of the Benue State community to have faith and support the Governor Hyacinth Alia administration to deliver on his promises to the people.
