December 01, (THEWILL) – The Boeing Company, a global leader in aerospace innovation, has reiterated its commitment to supporting Air Peace, Nigeria’s foremost airline and West Africa’s largest carrier, as it continues to drive the advancement of the aviation industry in the region.
Harry Magui, Senior Organisational Consultant and Programme Manager at Boeing Global Learning Institute, made this known during a recent visit to Air Peace by a delegation from Boeing and Cranfield University.
The delegation conducted a five-day Advanced Leadership in Safety Excellence training for Air Peace’s top leadership, aimed at reinforcing the airline’s safety culture and operational standards.
“Air Peace has been phenomenal in advancing the aviation industry in Nigeria. We are here to support their growth and help harness future opportunities through this specialized training.
“Safety is the cornerstone of the aviation industry. Without it, there can be no business. This is critical not just for airlines like Air Peace but for regulators and passengers alike,” Magui said.
Magui emphasised Boeing’s commitment to collaborating with Air Peace in areas such as psychological safety, change management, safety leadership, crisis management, and fostering a “Just Culture” within the airline.
Harrison Debrah, Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs lead at Boeing, commended Air Peace’s remarkable achievements within a decade of operation.
He highlighted the airline’s central role in Boeing’s vision for Nigeria’s aviation sector, praising Chairman and CEO Dr. Allen Onyema for his resilience and dedication to excellence.
Dr. Fabian Steinmann, a Lecturer in Organizational Resilience and Change at Cranfield University, echoed this sentiment, noting the importance of robust and adaptable safety systems.
“We are privileged to be in Lagos, working with Air Peace to share best practices and learn from their operations. At Cranfield, safety is at the core of everything we do, and we are thrilled to engage with Air Peace as they celebrate their 10th anniversary,” Steinmann said.
In response, Onyema expressed gratitude for the recognition and training initiative.
“At Air Peace, safety is at the heart of everything we do. We have a system of checks and balances that ensures our operations meet the highest standards,” Onyema stated.
He revealed his personal trust in Air Peace’s safety culture, stating that he exclusively flies with the airline.
Onyema also highlighted the company’s adoption of a non-punitive reporting system, reflecting its commitment to a Just Culture that prioritizes safety and accountability.
