
September 18, (THEWILL) – The Senate has received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm the appointment of the Secretary and Board members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The request was contained in a letter dated September 17, 2021, and read during plenary on Tuesday by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
President Buhari explained that the request for the confirmation of the nominees was in accordance with the provision of section 2(1) of EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004.
“In accordance with provisions of Section 2 (1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) (Establishment) Act. 2004, I hereby forwarded for confirmation by the Senate the Underlisted nominees as board members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission”, the letter read in part.
Those to be confirmed include: George Abang Ekpungu, Secretary of the Commission (Cross River); Lugma Mohammed, Board Member ( Edo); Anumba Adaeze, Board Member ( Enugu); Alhaju Raheem Kola Adesina, Board Member ( Kwara); and Alhaji Yahaya Muhammed (Yobe).
