September 01, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Tuesday lost six of her serving members in the Anambra State House of Assembly to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The six lawmakers are Hon. Nonso Okafor, representing Nnewi North, Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma, representing Njikoka 1, Hon. Cater D. N Umeoduagu, representing Aguata 1, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu, representing Dumekofia, Hon. Arthur Chiekwu, representing Idemmih North and Hon. Edward Ibuzo, representing Onisha North 2.
They have since been received by the chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni.
While receiving the new APC members at a brief meeting held Tuesday 31st August, 2021 in Abuja, Chairman APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni restated the party’s determination to win the Anambra governorship election.
Governor Buni said: “Mere looking at what is happening, especially now that a lot of prominent and serving state lawmakers have started joining, the grassroot is moving and Anambra people are moving to the APC.”
The Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma, who was also present said the people of the South-east have woken up from their sleep and the region is committed and wants to be a core part of national politics in Nigeria.
He also expressed confidence that his party will win the Anambra state governorship election.
The decampees described the APC as a preferred political party in Nigeria and promised to mobilise support towards victory in the November 6 governorship polls.
The brief ceremony, which held at the Imo State Governors’s Lodge, was attended by top members of the party including, the governors of Lagos, Osun, Kogi and Imo states.
