April 09, (THEWILL) – Former Nigerian Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola, is dead.
Ajibola, a former judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in The Hague, Netherlands, passed away at the age of 89.
Segun Ajibola (SAN), the late jurist eldest child, in a statement on Sunday, said he passed away at midnight on Saturday.
He wrote, “Asalamaleikun. With very deep heart and Gratitude to Almighty Allah. Our Dad Prince Bola Ajibola departed this world over the midnight. May Almighty Allah bless him with Aljanah firdaus.”
Ajibola, a Prince from Owu, was born on March 22, 1934, and was president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) between 1984 and 1985.
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) at the Holborn College of Law, University of London between 1959 and 1962 and was called to the English Bar at the Lincoln’s Inn in 1962.
Prince Ajibola was a Judge of ICJ between 1991 and 1994. He was Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice of Nigeria from 1985 to 1991.
Prince Ajibola was the High Commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom from 1999 to 2002.
