August 05, (THEWILL) – Former President of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Dominic Oneya, is dead.

He was military Governor for Kano State, followed by Benue State.

Family sources told THEWILL, that the former Army General who hails from Agbarho community, in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state, died on Thursday at his Effurun GRA residence in the state.

Current President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, also confirmed his death.

“Yes, he is dead,” he said.

Oneya was NFF boss from 1999 to 2002. He served in various capacities in CAF committees and recently headed the Ministerial Committee on Reforms in Nigerian Football

Born on May 26,1948, Oneya,  73, was in 1996 to 1998, a military Governor of Kano State.

And between 1998 and 1999, the late Army General was the military Governor of Benue State.

He retired from military service on a rank of Brigadier General.
