August 14, (THEWILL) – A Nigerian Airforce aircraft, MI-171 Helicopter, on Monday afternoon, crashed in Niger State.
The NAF, in a statement by its Spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the helicopter was on a casualty evacuation mission before it crashed at about 1:00 pm near Chukuba Village in the State.
“The aircraft had departed Zungeru Primary School en route Kaduna but was later discovered to have crashed near Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State,” he added.
Details on any casualty is still sketchy as of the time of filing this report but the NAF said efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the crew and passengers on board the helicopter, while preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the probable cause of the crash.
