July 25, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) have openly engaged in a physical scuffle over the custody of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

An unidentified highly-ranking NCS official has been seriously beaten up and arrested by DSS officials, who have mobilised more men to counter the attempt by prison authorities to take custody of Emefiele.

Moments before the fight broke out, the Prison authorities had mobilised more men to take custody of Emefiele, as ordered by the court.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, granted Emefiele N20 million bail and one surety in like sum.

Nicholas Oweibo, the presiding Judge, also ruled that the suspended CBN Governor should be remanded at the correctional centre, pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions

However, DSS operatives insisted on taking away the suspended CBN Governor into their custody.
