
June 22, (THEWILL)- President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday approved the composition of the Nigerian government’s team to engage with Twitter over the recent suspension of the operations of the micro-blogging platform in the country.
The approval was announced in a statement by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Mohammed noted that following the indefinite suspension of its operations in Nigeria allegedly for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence, Twitter wrote to Buhari seeking to engage with the Federal Government over the suspension, with a view to charting a path forward.
The team will be chaired by the Information Minister and is made up of:
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, as the Chairman
Attorney General of the Federation and Honourable Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Onyema Ugochukwu
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, and
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo,
Representatives of other relevant government agencies.
