BEVERLY HILLS, December 15, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, finally observed his first working visit to Lagos since assumption of office.
Buhari’s visit, a first by a sitting President to the state in 15 years, was expected to be celebrated with much anticipation by the state Governor, Akinwumi Ambode.
He was scheduled to commission some roads built by the state and pay homage to the Oba of Lagos but contracted the infection and could no longer visit the state.
However, in a low-key visit on Thursday, the President was at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos, where he inaugurated 30 vessels newly added by the Nigerian Navy to its fleet.
Among the vessels were the second Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) indigenously constructed, NNS KARADUWA, NNS UNITY built to specification in China, a tugboat, UGWU and 27 other back water boats.
At the event were Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode; Minister for Defence, Mohammed Dan-Ali; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; and Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN); Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewale; and, Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu.
Others included the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar; Commandant, National Defence College, Rear Admiral Sanmi Alade; Director General, NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside, among others.
