September 29, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudon Nwuche, who clocks 60 this Thursday.
The President, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, rejoiced with the former Deputy Speaker for recording impressive achievements working in the private and public sectors, in the fields of legal practice, business, humanitarian services and as an elected lawmaker, rising to a leadership position in the National Assembly.
The President noted the contributions of Nwuche at the House of Representatives, with bills that were directly hinged on the welfare of the people and which greatly impacted on the nation.
The statement credited Nwuche with originating the Disability Bill, the Nigerian Media Bill and the Nigerian Local Content Bill, which have transformed into laws, institutions and commissions.
President Buhari extolled the community worker and grassroots activist, who played a strong role in the passage of the Niger Delta Development Commission Act and the Onshore Offshore Dichotomy Bill, and also set up scholarships and grant schemes for indigent students and entrepreneurs.
Nwuche was one of the top chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and will expectedly be switching to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in an elaborate ceremony in Port Harcourt, coinciding with his birthday, on Thursday.
Governor Nyesom Wike and the Chairman of the PDP in the state is rolling out the red carpet for the “returnees” at the Isaac Boro Park from 10am.
Other APC members switching to PDP are: Ogbonna Nwuke, a former spokesman of APC Rivers State; Stephen Ezekwem, former Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly; Emma Deeya, ex-Member, Federal House of Representatives; Alabo Charles Dokubo; and Hon. Ngo Martins Yellowe.
