October 01, (THEWILL) – Protesters on Friday stormed the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos to register their displeasure with the insecurity, poor economy, lawlessness, and other challenges in the country.
The protest, which coincided with Nigeria’s 61sAI
t independence anniversary, was flagged under the banner of #RevolutionNow and the #TakeItBack movements.
Protesters at the scene chanted and displayed banners and placards that read, ‘Buhari Must Go’.
The police had during the week said no official letter had been received to notify the command of any protest, adding that it ought to be notified to prevent miscreants from taking advantage of the protest.
However, security operatives including RRS officers in over 10 vehicles of the Nigeria Police Force were at the venue of the protest.
Some were also stationed around the Maryland axis to forestall any breakdown of order.
Also in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, protesters stormed streets to protest against the detention of Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
The protesters, led by Oguntola Ayomide, carried banners and placards while chanting anti-government songs. They also demanded better governance.
