BEVERLY HILLS, October 21, (THEWILL) – The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday, appealed to the Governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States to urgently do something about the nutritional status of babies and children in the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in their various places.
In a statement signed by Adebisi Olumide-Ajayi, a Special Adviser (Media) in the office of the Wife of the President, Mrs. Buhari said she is grieved as a mother that children could be going through such appalling conditions in her country.
“Mrs. Buhari realises that malnutrition rates for children are at a serious level in these camps, where large number of people displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency are gathered.
“It is important to note that even under normal circumstances children have specialised nutritional needs. This in effect underscores the importance of highly specialised nutritional support for this category of children.
“Her Excellency further commended Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos State for donating N150 million to the Governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to assist them in the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs),” the statement further said.
