BEVERLY HILLS, January 31, (THEWILL) – The Christian Brethren Church (TCBC), through its youth wing, has given awards of excellence to some deserving Nigerian youths In Lagos.
At the event, held over the weekend, Master Fatade Elias Omotoyosi carted home the grand award for the day, the Afolabi Oladele Prize for Outstanding Leadership with an educational fund held in trust for him.
Toyosi beat other youths for his stance and campaign against exam malpractice among secondary schools in Lagos and for showing exceptional leadership abilities. He also had outstanding results in his Senior Certificate Exams (W.A.S.S.C.E.).
In his speech, Noel Abdulahi, Pastor of the TCBC Youth Church, disclosed that the church was “celebrating excellence in youths who have excelled exceedingly in order to raise a generation of servant leaders because this generation must get it right.”
The keynote speaker at the event, Barr. Lois Akanimo, in his address charged the youths to remember God in all their pursuits.
In a speech titled ‘You can excel in life and serve God’, Lois, a Cambridge Scholar and recipient of numerous scholarship and awards, asked “what do you miss in serving God while excelling in your pursuits?” as he traced the biblical parable of the labourers in Matthew 20.
Also honoured were Miss Emeka Amarachi Favour and Miss Mordi Chiwendu in the Dele Oyeleru Excellence Service award category; Ndubuisi Godwin in the Noel Abdulahi award for Youth Development; and, the Technical Unit of the Youth Church for Exceptional Team Work.
The Senior Pastor TCBC, Afolabi Oladele, in his remarks, encouraged the youths to be ready for challenges saying that “God will send problems and challenges of life in order to shape you. Don’t be intimidated.”
Present at the event were Dele Oyeleru, an associate pastor; Lekan Owodunni, Elder and Founder, Strong Tower Academy, Lagos; Parents; Guardians and friends of the awardees.
