November 08, (THEWILL) – In the latest development regarding the controversial death of Afrobeat artiste Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba has taken significant action, returning 37-year-old auxiliary nurse Fisayo Ogedengbe and Mohbad’s friend Ayobani Sadiq to police custody, maintaining them as suspects in this high-profile case.
Lagos Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa revealed this during a press briefing on Friday, where he presented a police report outlining the findings of the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death.
Approximately two weeks ago, Mr Owohunwa established a 13-member police team to probe the tragic death of the 27-year-old musician who passed away on September 12th and was laid to rest the following day in Ikorodu.
The allegations against Fisayo Ogedengbe suggest that she administered injections to Mohbad, leading to his tragic demise. The court’s decision emphasizes the gravity of the charges against her.
A report concerning the auxiliary nurse said, “This criminal liability is further heightened given the evidence that as an auxiliary nurse, she is not qualified to administer such medications or function as a qualified nurse. She also did this in a non-clinical environment and in a professionally negligent manner that negated standard medical protocols.”
Moreover, Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ordered the continued detention of Ayobani Sadiq, believed to be connected with the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. These measures underscore the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to unravel the details of this case.
The inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death is ongoing, with the case adjourned until November 29 for additional advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
