BEVERLY HILLS, October 25, (THEWILL) –Â A Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the remand of the embattled former chairman of the Pension Reforms Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, in prison custody.
Justice Okon Abang granted the remand order following a request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after he pleaded not guilty to the 12 counts.
Maina is facing charges of money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud.
His son, Faisal Maina, who was also arraigned on Friday by the EFCC, was remanded at the Police Special Tactical Squad.
He pleaded not guilty to a 3-count bordering on money laundering and other offences.
Faisal is being accused of operating an anonymous account between 2013 and 2016 and indirectly controlling an aggregate of over 58million naira between that period.
On October 3, he filed an asset declaration form in which he concealed some of his assets.
He will, therefore, be remanded at Police Special Tactical Squad pending the commencement of his trial.
The judge consequently adjourned until October 30 for trial.
