March 31, (THEWILL) – An Ogun State High Court, sitting in Abeokuta, has voided the suspension of Dare Kadiri, a former Deputy-Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
THEWILL reports that the Ogun State House of Assembly, in September 2022, suspended Kadiri (a member, representing Ijebu North II State Constituency) and Solomon Osho, over alleged breach of rights and privileges of the state legislature.
Although, the House later pardoned and recalled Osho, Kadiri, however, approached the court to challenge his suspension.
Delivering judgement in the suit on Friday, Justice O. A. Onafowokan of the High Court 3, Abeokuta Judicial division, held that the suspension of the lawmaker, was an abuse of power by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, the House of Assembly and the Clerk of the House.
Declaring Kadiri’s suspension as unconstitutional, the court directed that all allowances due to the lawmaker be paid immediately by the state House of Assembly.
