February 17, (THEWILL) — Dangote Group has signed a $400 million machinery supply agreement with XCMG Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. as it intensifies efforts to fast-track the expansion of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals.
The deal will provide a fleet of advanced construction equipment to support ongoing engineering works at the sprawling refinery complex and other strategic industrial projects within the Group. The move is aimed at strengthening execution capacity and accelerating delivery timelines.
The refinery, which currently processes 650,000 barrels of crude per day, is being expanded to 1.4 million barrels per day. Upon completion projected within three years the facility is expected to rank as the largest single-site refinery in the world.
Beyond refining, the expansion programme extends into petrochemicals and fertiliser production. Polypropylene capacity will increase from 900,000 to 2.4 million metric tonnes per annum, while urea production in Nigeria will rise to 9 million metric tonnes annually, alongside an additional 3 million metric tonnes planned for Ethiopia. Linear Alkyl Benzene output is also set to reach 400,000 metric tonnes per year.
The Group described the $400 million investment as a strategic step toward deepening its industrial footprint and advancing its ambition of building a $100 billion enterprise by 2030.
