March 30, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola, has taken to her social media handle to announce that she has apologised to Yeni Kuti, for disrespecting her.
The actress, in a video made both in English and Yoruba, said that the apology was done privately but she still had to announce to the public that the issue has been settled.
She added that she had to do the video because Kuti had made her grievances against her public while speaking on Television Continental.
The back and forth started after Daramola took to her Instagram page to call the youths out.
According to her, youths are fond of disrespecting their elders because they share different political views.
She added that it has become a pandemic, which needs to be checked. If not, it could spread to the extent that children will beat up their parents since no one has called their attention to the problem.
Kuti decided to respond to Daramola’s opinion as stated in the video while co-hosting ‘Your view’, a program on TVC.
The dancer revealed that although she likes Daramola, the actress had previously insulted her thirty years ago while they were working together and what she is reaping now is what she planted many years ago.
She added that the actress cannot insult her elders and then turn around to expect respect from people younger than her.
“You reap what you sow, karma is a leveller,” Kuti had stated.
Responding to Kuti’s allegation, Daramola stated that some of her colleagues and friends have tagged her because of the interview where Kuti claimed that she was rude to her years ago.
The actress made it known that it is not in her character to be rude to her age mates not to talk of people older than her.
She described Kuti as someone she holds in high esteem and an older colleague.
“Good morning everybody, I am coming online to do this small talk because some of my colleagues and friends have called me and tagged me on the interview Aunty Yeni did on ‘Your View,’ alleging that I was rude many years ago.
“First and foremost, I have to come online to do this because she made the allegation public, though I have spoken to her privately, we have sorted things out and I have apologised.
“Being rude to people of my age is not my character, talk less of an elder, aunty Yeni is someone I hold in high esteem, iginmu jina si agbari (there is a great age difference between us).
“Won ma sowipe eni to ba yagbe o le gba gbe sugbon eni to ba kogbe kole gbagbe, (it’s possible for the person who defecated to forget but the one who took care of the mess will not forget).
“It’s been a long time, I am almost certain it didn’t happen. Although I am not here to argue if it happened or not.
“I am just here to apologise,” she said.
