
June 04, (THEWILL) – At least, 37 villagers have been killed and several others injured following bandits attack on Raka, Raka Dutse, and Filin Gawa communities in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Former council chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Bashar Kalenjeni, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
Kalenjeni, said the bandits attacked the communities on Saturday evening, after they refused to pay the levies imposed on them.
He said while 37 villagers were killed including 18 at Raka, 17 at Filin Gawa and two at Raka Dutse, several others were injured.
Kalenjeni, who called on security operatives to come to their rescue, said some of the villagers were still unaccounted for as at Sunday.
Sokoto State Police Command has not issued any statement on the incident.
