July 17, (THEWILL) – Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to declare a national public holiday for traditionalists in the country.
Soyinka, who spoke on the occasion of his 89th birthday, said traditionalists had been neglected for too long in Nigeria.
According to him, it was about time the Government declared an annual holiday like Islam and Christianity, for traditionalists.
“We’ve had enough, We’ve had enough of being second-class citizens in this nation. So, equal time, equal space, we demand public holidays”, he said.
Prof. Soyinka also called on security agencies to reopen unresolved cases of religious killings across the country.
