SAN FRANCISCO, August 26, (THEWILL) – Alexis Refinery Limited, the indigenous modular crude oil refinery located in Abuator, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the Delta State Wednesday held its first mandated Environmental Impact Assessment scoping workshop and stakeholders meeting in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The 10, 000 barrels per day refinery, which is being developed at a cost $15m by oil businessman Joey Obue, received its operational license in March 2020, and is expected to be completed and become operational next year. The stakeholders in the project are the Delta state government which holds a10% equity, while the Abuator community where the project is situated holds 1 percent. The Nigerian Content and Development and Monitoring Board also holds a stake in the project on behalf of the federal government.
THEWILL gathered that the refinery is located about 100 meters from the Agip flow station which is expected to feed the facility with Bonny Light crude oil grade.
Alexis Refinery Limited promoter, Joey Obue and Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Delta State Governor told reporters after the workshop that the refinery presents a game changing economic opportunity for the host community and the state at large when it becomes operational.
